Carolyn Martin

Carolyn began her bowling caree4r in Aiken in 1959, after she and husband Albert Divver Martin, Jr. moved there from Anderson, South Carolina.  Carolyn is originally from Hendersonville, NC.  They married while Al was serving in the navy during World War II and had been married 50+ years when Al passed away eight years ago.

 

They had 3 sons and a daughter – Albert Divver Martin, III (Polly) from Charleston – Donald Martin (Brenda) from Lexington – Dannie Martin from Aiken and Susan Earnhardt (George) of Alabama.  Susan passed away in November of 2003.  Carolyn has two grandsons – John Gregory (Susan’s), a policeman in Aiken and Chad Martin(Donald & Brenda’s), a student in Charleston.  She is very proud of her family.

 

Carolyn, along with Mitzi Herold, helped to organize the South Carolina Women’s Bowling Association.  Carolyn became a charter member and has continued to work with the state and the Aiken Association since that time.

 

She has served in league offices – held many offices for the Aiken WBA – President, Vice President, Secretary, Sergeant-At-Arms and Director for a total of 43 years.

 

Carolyn has been a Director on the SCWBA Board for 15 years.  She has attended 41 SCWBA Conventions – 38 as a delegate from the Aiken WBA and 13 as an SCWBA Director.

 

Carolyn has participated in 38 SCWBA Championship Tournaments and several SCWBA Annual Senior Tournaments, winning First Place Handicap All Events in her division the last time she bowled.

 

Carolyn is dedicated to her bowling and has attended many National Tournament and Conventions throughout the years.
