Monte is a native of Wailuku, Hawaii, where he graduated from high school. He attended Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1974 and moved to Augusta, GA. He and his wife Christel, make their home there now. Upon arriving in Augusta, he became the Assistant Manager of the Bowling Center at Fort Gordon, GA.
He assumed the duties of Scretary of the Augusta Bowling Association on August 1, 1974, and served in that capacity until joining ABC in 1977 as the Southeast Region Field Representative. In 1975, while he was the Augusta Bowling Association Secretary, he served as the Georgia State Bowling Tournament Manager. He serves the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia in addition to the District of Columbia.
Monte has been instrumental in the development of our State Association and works with all local Associations in our State as well as his area that he covers for ABC. Two of the initial Presidential Awards of Merit given by ABC to Associations were given to Associations under his jurisdiction, the third as given to an Association previously under his jurisdiction. Monte continues to give time and assistance to all associations in his area. He has inspired them to greater achievements.
Monte is a dedicated bowler, leader and supporter of the S.C. State Bowling Association. Always there to assist and will let you know if anything is wrong. He will always be complimentary where deserved and will help correct any weaknesses. A tribute to the American Bowling Congress, S.C. State Bowling Association, local Association and the bowlers of our state.
Monte has been elected and inducted into the Hall of Fame in each state under his ABC area as well as Southeast Bowling Association. He is now serving GBA as Assistant Secretary. Monte is a tribute to our sport and an outstanding addition to the S.C. State Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
