Rachel Faile inducted by Tamie Robbins
Rachel was born and raised in Rock Hill, SC. She is the daughter of Edward L. and Alice H. Adkins. She graduated from Rock Hill High School and has an Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science from York Technical College. Rachel is known to some as “The Bug Lady of Rock Hill, ”or one of the “Dixie Chick’s” because of her 35 wonderful years spent working at Dixie Exterminating. Rachel was first introduced to the sport of bowling in 1986 while dating her now husband, Scott. The two sweethearts began league bowling before their marriage in 1989. Both are still avid league bowlers and continue to enjoy the sport at Striker’s Family Sports Center in Rock Hill, SC as well as traveling across the United States for tournaments. Their 2 sons, Matt and Trevor have also inherited the love of bowling. Trevor began his bowling in the youth league and continues to bowl in adult leagues and tournaments. Matt enjoys bowling with family and friends. When Rachel’s son,Trevor, began bowling in the youth league, in 2011, she enjoyed being a bowling mom. Wanting to become more involved,she became a certified coach to share her passion with a new generation of bowlers. Rachel has been a Coach with the Striker’s Youth Bowling League for11 years now. She has assisted the SCUSBC Staff during the Youth Rising Stars, Pepsi and State tournaments at Strikers Family Sports Center as well as provided baked goods and l worked at the sales table for many years helping the youth raise money for their travel to tournaments. Rachel has been a member of the WIBC/USBC forover 35 years and is a board member of the Tri-County Association. Rachel stated,“I have so much fun watching the kids learn not only the sport of bowling, but seeing them develop socially and building confidence in themselves. Their smiles and excitement are contagious. I hope they learn that with practice, they can achieve anything they set their minds to.”Rachel has made many wonderful friends through her coaching and league bowling. She plans to continue coaching and encouraging all those that pass through the alley doors.
