Douglas D. Maloch

Linda Maloch, wife of Doug Maloch writes:

“Doug started his love of bowling when he was in college.  In 1960, he was the manager of bowling lanes in Texas.  After leaving there, Doug stilled bowled.  In fact, the first date he had with his soon to be wife, Linda, was at Magnolia Lanes in Magnolia, Arkansas.

“After marrying and moving to Florence, SC, Doug continued to bowl.  He was a very good bowler and had many 650+ series.  Doug became active in the junior program when his son, Lee, was 8 year old.  Lee is now 32.  Doug coached about 20 years at Brunswick Capitol Lanes in Columbia, SC.  He also helped with city, state and Coca-Cola tournaments.  The traveling leagues were always one of his favorites.  Many of his weekends were spent driving a busload of young bowlers to cities all over SC.  Doug served on the Junior Board in various leadership roles (he was President 1981-86).  He was also an In-State Instructor for many years.  He was on the Men’s Board, and served as a representative on the State Junior Board.

“Even after Doug quit bowling, he loved to see and talk with the young people he coached.  He was always interested in them.

“Doug died in March 20,1998, but he would have been so very proud of this honor.”
