Evelyn has been bowling for 50+ years. She has bowled in the Midlands Association during this time. She has served 7 years on the YABA board and was a youth coach. She served 2 ½ years as Secretary on the local board and served as a director for 15 years. She served on all committees on the local board. Evelyn is still an active bowler and bowls two nights a week. She is always encouraging young bowlers to bowl in certified leagues. She promotes the sport of bowling and is still working part time at AMF Columbia Lanes.
Evelyn has bowled in 9 State Senior tournaments and in her division in 2005 she placed first in all events. She has bowled on four State championship teams (3 scratch and 1 handicap). Evelyn has bowled in 49 Midlands local tournaments and has rolled two 299 games and numerous 600+ series. She holds many titles in the local association, High Average, All Star Teams, and high scratch series.
We would like to congratulate Evelyn on her induction into the South Carolina USBC Hall of Fame for 2007 in the Pioneer Category.

Marie Evelyn Averitte LEXINGTON – Marie Evelyn Averitte, 81, died June 9, 2013. Born February 2, 1932, in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Flynn and wife of the late Bernie Ray “Dick” Averitte. She was a prominent figure in the Columbia area bowling community and a member of the South Carolina Bowlers Hall of Fame. She is survived by daughters, Ann Harker, Vicki Sweatman (Frank) and son, Dale Averitte (Carol), seven grandchildren, Brett Rutland (Kelly), Melissa Powell (Eddie), Kayce Harker, Tommy Sweatman (Erica), Courtney Averitte Bain (Brandon), Kayla Sweatman (Jeff), Colby Averitte, and six great-grandchildren.
