Jerry Campbell began working in the early ’70’s at this nice little bowling establishment known to the locals as Oconee Lanes located in the small town of Seneca. As he worked, he watched and observed the people as they bowled and determined in his heart that hw would start bowling, and have fun at the same time! He promptly joined his first ever bowling league in the summer of 1970. Jerry enjoyed this new sport so much that he got himself elected to the Seneca Bowling Association (SBA) Board as a Director in 1973. After directing, he was elected Vice President of the Seneca Bowling in 1975 and then elected President in 1978. Not to show partiality to anyone particular office, Jerry was then elected as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Seneca Bowling Association in 1984 and proudly holds this title to this very day!
After getting his feet wet at the local bowling establishment, Jerry ventured a little ways from home and began to attend meetings at the South Carolina State Bowling Association in 1978 and guess what? Yep, those folks liked Jerry so well that he was elected to their Board as a director when the program began. He also served as their President for the 2003-2004 year.
On June 25, 1994, Jerry bowled his first 300 game – his high series is a 749 – and his high average is 199. His amazing bowling career continues………. He was elected Secretary of the Year 2003-2004 for the TRAVELING CLASSIC BOWLING ASSOCIATION, also known as the TCBA Western Carolina Region – where he has been secretary since 1996. Joe Cramer, president of TCBA passes along this well deserved compliment about Jerry – “He is a great person and I enjoy working with him.”
Jerry has been the secretary of his local league, the STARS & STRIPES since 1983, and was elected Secretary of the Year 2004-2005 for the Greenville Bowling Association.
His obvious dedication and leadership in the sport of bowling has made Jerry a leading ambassador for the sport and has earned respect and friendships across the country that has spanned many years. We are proud to introduce you to the newest member of the SOUTH CAROLINA USBC STATE HALL OF FAME – JERRY CAMPBELL!!
