Josephine Forgason

At the time of her passing, Jo Forgason was the oldest member of the Grand Strand Women’s Bowling Association.  She was well known by most of the Grand Strand members and was loved by everyone who came in contact with her.

Jo helped the Grand Strand Association get started twenty-five years ago.  In 1960, she assumed the office of Treasurer for the association and held that office for twenty-four years.

Jo was also instrumental in organizing the South Carolina Women’s Bowling Association and was a Charter Member.  She held the position of Sergeant-at-Arms until her health declined a year ago and she had to step down.

She was Life Member of WIBC and had been honored by the South Carolina Women’s Bowling Association when made a “Member Emeritus” in 1984.

Everyone who knew Jo, bowled with her and loved her, will always have fond memories of her.  Jo and the place she filled as a member and officer of both the Grand Strand WBA and the South Carolina WBA has been missed and will continue to be missed by her friends and fellow bowlers.  The position she held can be filled with other members, but the love and friendship she shared with each one of us cannot be replaced.

To quote her daughter, Terry Marsh, “I know Mom is smiling over this honor”.

Jo, the South Carolina Women’s Bowling Association is honored to have you as a member of the Hall of Fame!
