Sandy Schutts

Sandy Schutts inducted by her son Dan Schutts

Sandy’s love of bowling comes naturally. She’s from a family of bowlers, namely her parents, maternal aunt, uncle and cousins. Sandy discovered her love for coaching when her son, Dan, started to bowl as a youngster. This led to her coaching youth at Surfside Lanes in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in the early1970’s. Surfside Lanes hosted 4 weekly youth leagues, all coached by Sandy.

When she and her family moved to Summerville, Sandy continued instructing future bowlers at Sandpiper Lanes in the fall of 1980. When Oakbrook Lanes opened a few years later, Sandy happily accepted the youth coaching spot there. She coached well into the early 2000’s. Along the way she served on
the Greater Charleston YABA, SCYABA and the WIBC of Greater Charleston.

She was inducted into the Greater Charleston Association Hall of Fame in the early 2000’s for her dedication to the youth and growing the future of the sport.
