Sharon Miller

Sharon Meares Miller was born January 25, 1961 in Newport News, VA.  She lost her battle with cancer in September 2008.  Sharon started bowling at age seven with her two younger brothers Greg and Kenny.  Sharon won many awards in SC State Youth Bowling Championship Tournaments.  She later became Secretary/Treasurer of the Seneca Junior Bowling League.  In the early 1990s, Sharon was elected President of the Oconee Youth Bowling Association, where she served for many years.  Sharon enjoyed working with people, both youth and adults.  Sharon belonged to several bowling leagues, serving as both Team Captain and Officer.  She was a member of the 600 Club of Oconee.  She served as Director of the Oconee Association for several years.  Congratulations to the Family of Sharon Miller for her induction into the SCUSBC Hall of Fame under the Youth Meritorious Service category.

Died in September 2008. Inducted posthumously.

Obituary for Sharon Meares Miller

Seneca, SC—Sharon Meares Miller, 47, of 1015 Ebenezer Road, Seneca, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Cottingham Hospice House.

A native of Newport News, VA, Ms. Miller was the daughter of Virgil Wright Meares of Seneca and the late Helen Meredith Meares. She worked in the graduate admissions department of Clemson University. Ms. Miller was past president of the Oconee Junior Bowling Association, member of the State of SC Youth Bowling Association and past director of the Oconee Women’s Bowling Association.

In addition to her father, Ms. Miller is survived by son, Joseph W. Miller of Seneca; brother, Greg Scott Meares of Walhalla; step-mother, Carrie Meares of Seneca; and step-brother, Steve Clark of Hartselle, AL.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2008 from the Chapel of Davenport Funeral Home, Walhalla, SC with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, at the funeral home.

The family is at the residence.
