Tony Johnson

Tony Johnson inducted by Kasey Maddox

Tony Johnson begin practicing with a couple of guys at his workplace, who
insisted that he join their plant bowling league. Tony had no interest in
bowling until this group introduced him to the sport in the fall of 1978 and
once, he got started, he never stopped. Tony loves the sport of bowling so
much to where he has been bowling in the Anderson USBC association for
43 years. Over the years Tony has served as a league officer in numerous
leagues, he also served as Vice president and Director of the USBC local
association, he was a youth coach for many years and has served as a youth
association officer. Tony regularly participates in local, state and national
tournaments, to date, Tony has bowled in the Nationals for 24 consecutive
years. Tony was selected as the Anderson USBC Bowler of year twice and
was inducted in the Anderson Men’s Hall of Fame in 2001. Tony have a long
list of amazing achievements in his history of bowling. Tony has had 22
sanction 300 games, six 800 series, has carried a high average of 232 for a
bowling season, also hold the title as AE Senior Champion Class C in 2018.
Not only did Tony find his love of bowling at the Anderson bowling center,
but he also met his wife of 18 years (Patricia) through a fellow bowler.
Bowling has been a huge part of Tony’s life over the years. Bowling has
taken him place that he probably would not have otherwise visited. Tony
have developed many longtime friendships with great people who really feel
like family. Tony has had many great achievements over the years and is
proud to be inducted in the State Hall of Fame.
