I have been bowling for about 49 years. The second year I bowled, Gail Beaty asked me to come to an Annual Meeting. I was appointed to be the representative for the Stars & Stripes Bowling League. And so it began. I was a Board member and then was asked to be the Association Secretary, which later changed to Association Manager. The was only on year that I did not serve on the local board. When we merged I was voted in as one of our Youth Directors and in 2019 was appointed to become our Association Manager again, which I still hold.

I bowled in the TCBA Travel League for about 18 years, and served as their Secretary/Treasurer for about 12 of those. During that time the team I was on won our division championship, numerous years and traveled all over to bowl in the Championship Tournament. The best we finished was 15 in one of those. What an experience to get to go to so many places and meet other bowlers.

I have also bowled in 2 Women’s National Tournament and was a delegate at one of them.

Also bowled in about 18 USBC Open Tournament, and saw so much of the United States that I probably would not have been able to see. Such a good time was had by all. All the bowling and the friends we made. The big dinner we always had on night when we were together was one of the big highlights. You never knew that might happen when we were all together. And by the way I always cashed in every National Tournament I bowled in, may not have been much but it meant a lot when we get at least a small check. I was a delegate at 4 of the USBC Open meeting.

Bowled in about 35 State Tournament and always had a great time. Our team finished 2nd in one of them but I can’t remember what year. We were very proud. And if I remember right it was a put together team.

Have been the Local 600 Club for about 29 years, and was elected president the 3rd year and have held that seat every year. Bowled in our 600 club tournament every year and won it numerous times, finished 2nd or 3rd quite a few times also.

I started helping the Youth and became a Coach I think in 1975. Helped coach for a few years and helped organize the trips for our youth to State Tournaments. I always tried to keep an eye on what was going on but was not there all the time. Then one year the person that was youth secretary left town with all the supplies, rules, records, cards everything. At that time I was the Local Secretary, so the local Men’s Secretary (Jerry Campbell) and I went to the Youth President’s house and helped her set up league rules and association rules. We got league started on time and had a pretty good year. After that I stayed more involved. I became the Secretary/Treasurer about 15 years ago And still hold that position. We enjoy going to the Pepsi Tournament and the State Tournament. We are always raising money for these so we can pay their entries. We have received the participation award many years because we try to take all of our bowlers to the State Tournament. It means a lot to our group when we receive this. We all get excite. One other highlight is I started coaching so my sister could bowl. I have coached her, her son and both her grandchildren. What a pleasure to have all of them interested in this sport. My grandchildren bowled for a few years and have bowled in the adult leagues also.

I have been Secretary/Treasurer of the Tuesday Night Industrial League for 29 years, Tuesday Doubles League for about 12 years, Wednesday Mixed League for 2 years and Generation Gap for 3 years

High game of a 279, high series a 649 and high average 180.
