George Hughes White
Florence – Services for George Hughes White, 68, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church music ministry or the Hughes White Youth Scholarship Bowling Fund of the Men’s Pee Dee Bowling Association
Mr. White died Wednesday, September 13, 1995. Born in Ridgecrest, N.C., he was a son of Ruth Hughes White and the late Harry Lee White. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired as co-owner of F and W Capacitor Inc. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, South Carolina Bowlers Hall of Fame, S.C. State Bowlers Association.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Eden White; daughters, Judith Cantey of Florence and Cara Lynn Blueford of Mount Pleasant; his mother of Florence; a sister Pauline Wright of Florence; a brother, Robert White of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
