Wendy Sosebee

Wendy was born November 14, 1964 in Meridian Mississippi, the daughter of Roy (deceased) and Marguerite Sosebee.  Her father was from Alabama and serving in the Navy. They chose to settle in her mothers hometown, Charleston, when Wendy as 4.

 

She has two sisters, Christine Webb and Cindy Holliman, both of Charleston and had a brother Roy Sosebee III, now deceased.

 

Wendy as the youngest by eight years (the accidento! She would go with her sisters to the bowling center at the navy base.  They let her bowl when she was six and she was hooked for good.

 

She started watching bowling on TV and thought Earl Anthony was the greatest! In her mind, he still is.

 

Wendy joined a league with her best friend Sandy Bezanson (now Villarreal) when she as 8 and has bowled ever since, 28 years to be exact.

 

Wendy has been a member of the S.C. Women’s Bowling Association for 15 years, bowling in 190 SCWBA and 10 SCSYABA Annual Tournaments.  In the 2000 SCWBA Tournament she was a member of the Champion Scratch Teams and also the Doubles Scratch Team.

 

During her career, Wendy has had (6) 275+ games (including a 299), (7) 300 games, (25) 300+ games, (25) 700+ Series and has finished leagues with a 210+ average.  Her career high game is a 300 and career 3-game series is 781.  Her highest season average is 213.

 

She has had many accomplishments on local and state levels including winning the state high game award for 300 games in 1990 – 1991 – 1994 – 1997 and 2000.  She also won state high average award in 1998 for her 213 average.  Locally she won the city award for high game in 1990-91, 1996-97, and 1999 for 300 games.  She also got the city award for high series in 1996-97 for a 728 and the high average in 1999 for a 211 average.

 

Wendy was made a member of the Charleston WBA Hall of Fame April 2, 2000.

 

Wendy is a true product of the YABA..She has been active in the Junior League on a state and local level.  She holds a great interest in her association, attends meetings and participates in local tournaments.

 

She has served as the Vice President of the SC Ladies State Travel League and President of the State 600 Tournament.

 

She is an outstanding person as well as bowler and greatly deserves the honor bestowed upeon her.  She will be an asset to the SCWBA Hall of Game
